INSTRUCTORS
Tripp Duke
Owner, Duke School of Music
Guitar, Bass, Mandolin & Ukulele Instructor
Tripp Duke owned his first electrical guitar at age two, hand designed and crafted by his father to carry on a rich musical tradition of performance and recording in the famous Mississippi Delta, home of the blues. He began his formal musical training early at the age of five, with six years of Suzuki violin performance at Delta State University. As an integral part of the family-owned music store, Tripp spent his tween-age years perfecting his knowledge of music. But his love for the guitar naturally led to an inclination towards performance as well as teaching, both of which continued to flourish as he left the Delta to pursue further opportunities for training.
After a brief stay in Arizona, Tripp moved to Birmingham, Alabama to attend the Alabama School of Fine Arts. His concentrated studies included theory, music history and classical piano, in addition to continually developing his guitar techniques. His talent and dedication to his favorite instrument did not go unnoticed.
In 1994, Tripp was invited to audition for the competitive School of Music at Florida State University. He received the highest honor ever given to an entering Freshman at that time, a full scholarship. He was further distinguished by being the first and only Freshman to study under the world-renowned classical guitarist and Director of Guitar at FSU, Bruce Holzman.
After attending FSU Tripp traveled to Seattle, Washington where he furthered his musical education by learning a multitude of styles, including but not limited to: classical, jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, celtic, flat picking, finger-style, high picking and many more.
Eventually returning to his roots, Tripp made the move back to the South and has been teaching all fretted instruments for the past 15 years with beginning to advanced-level students at ages ranging from 6 to 75. As well as performing for weddings and local events.
In his spare time, Tripp enjoys being in the outdoors, kayaking and camping with his wife Christine and spending time with their son, Noah.

Wes Springer
Drum Instructor
Wesley began drumming at age three behind a toy kit purchased by his parents as a Christmas gift. It didn't take long for those listening to realize he had an unusual gift of timing as his talent grew with every beat.
At age 14, Wesley's passion for drumming escalated, as he received his first professional kit and quickly began to excel as a drummer. He honed his skill as he became serious about drumming as a career, and began his first stint as a drummer in the band Thalon. Wesley was known for his energy and passion behind the drum kit during their live performances, while he also began to learn the precision and craft of a studio session player. He became connected with a producer in Los Angeles, CA, Tomas Constanza, who had written, recorded, and sang with some of the best in the business (Blink 182, All American Rejects, Kelly Clarkson, and more). Later he became a regular session player in Tomas' studio in Los Angeles, California (playing on albums by: David Reed, Jonathan Balas, and Embers In Ashes). Wesley has shared the stage with bands such as Skillet, Family Force Five, Toby Mac, and others. He is also a sought-after communicator traveling all over the United States sharing positive messages to students and inspiring them to live for something bigger than themselves. Some of Wesley's drumming influences include: Chad Butler of Switchfoot, Brandon Gillies of Hillsong United and Josh Fisher of Jesus Culture.
Wesley's passion for excellence in his craft, and his dedication to individual attention, defines his ability and desire to teach. He is presently available for drum lessons.

Victoria Long
Guitar Instructor
Victoria Long’s passion for music started when she was just 6 years old. Her first guitar was a Wal-Mart guitar gifted to her by her great grandmother for Christmas. Little did she know it would ignite a spark in her for a passion to actually learn guitar, which would carry her into the future. When she hit the age of 8 her parents thought that piano was the next best step on learning how to read music and just getting her fingers moving. For two years, Victoria took and enjoyed piano lessons. In fact, it wasn’t long before she began picking out pieces on her own and playing music recitals. But her dreams of playing the guitar had stayed with her and lead her to her very next step in musical education.
At age 10, which was as soon as her hands were big enough to wrap around the neck of the guitar—Victoria was ready to hit the road with guitar lessons. She began taking lessons with an amazing teacher named Tripp Duke. She started practicing every free moment she had. After a few years went by and she hit High School, her adventures in music only broadened as new avenues were opened to her. She began playing and singing with her youth praise band at church, playing solo pieces in church services, and even started writing a few of her own songs. Soon she also started playing and singing at local youth events and small coffee shops. In 2011, she had the honor of playing in North Carolina in front of 2,000 people with her sister Ashley Long.
Victoria enjoys playing smooth jazz, blues, soul rock, pop, country and contemporary Christian music. She loves playing her music for other people, and has recently had the opportunity to volunteer her free time with Hospice-- playing and singing for people of all ages and situations to brighten they’re day. Victoria quotes, “Music to me is a great way to express what you are feeling, help others feel certain emotions, and I’m loving every minute of it. And I am also looking forward to sharing my love of music with other people.”

Ryan Brewer
Piano Instructor
Ryan Brewer instills a love of music into each of his students. That mission saturates his teaching, whether it’s a first-time piano student or a seasoned student who feels frustrated practicing unfamiliar songs. Ryan merges his classical piano training with popular music or praise songs to the delight of learners and their families alike.
Ryan’s inspiration for the piano came from listening to his mother play in their living room in west Tennessee. He longed to bring those black and white keys to life as she did. Instruction began in second grade under the tutelage of Dr. Harris, a music professor from the local college. She recognized Ryan’s gift and ignited in him a lifelong passion for piano and the pursuit of musical excellence!
In middle school, Ryan’s family moved to middle Tennessee and he continued taking private lessons from Dr. Jerry Perkins, a renowned concert pianist and professor at the university Ryan would later attend. As a sophomore in high school, Ryan auditioned and was selected as one of eight piano students statewide to attend the 1994 Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts.
Throughout his middle and high school years, Ryan further expanded his musical horizons by exploring other musical traditions. He taught himself to play guitar, played a variety of percussion instruments in the school band, performed in musical theater, and even earned a place in several auditioned choirs, including All State. However, the piano remained his first love.
In 1996, Ryan was awarded a piano scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University. There, he had the privilege of studying under esteemed pianist Dr. Charlene Harb, who served as the primary keyboardist for the Nashville Symphony. Ryan graduated in 2000, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Music Industry (emphasis in piano) and a minor in Recording Industry Management.
Since then, Ryan has served on staff in multiple churches as pianist, choir director, music director, and children's music director. He also served as Choral Instructor and General Music teacher for LaVergne High School before moving to Alabama in 2008. Today, Ryan lives in Pelham, AL with his wife and two children, and he continues to inspire piano students to develop their talents.
